Reality Show Blues

I am a huge TV buff. I like to watch TV shows most of which are fictional and funny. My favorite shows include 24,House,Lost,Burn Notice, Family guy, Scrubs, The Office and my evergreen most favorite sitcom Friends. I am not a huge fan of reality TV and never have been. While some of my colleagues are really into shows like American Idol, Survivor and even crappier shows like "The Bachelor", I tend to stay away from them. Once in a while, when there is nothing else on TV to watch and I am really bored, I switch to these shows. Not that I have anything against people who love reality TV shows, I just don't like them. Whenever I watch them, I still feel and know that most of the show is scripted and that's what bugs me. Yea, people drop some f-bombs here and there but that doesn't make it a reality show.

Anyways, Monday night was such time where there was nothing on TV after two hours of 24. After that I flipped channels and here it was a show called "The Bachelor" (yea I know guys I didn't have anything else to do. But what will a guy do after getting up at 6:30 going to work at 8:30 working till 6 PM, jog for a while, go help colleague in lab at 7:35 PM, come back to home at around 8:15 and finally catches his breath!).

I didn't see the first of the last two hours of bachelor since 24 was not yet over. But from 10 to 11 PM I watched the show on and off. So here it is in summary what was there in the last hour of the show. A guy named Jason Mesnick is the bachelor and he is on "hunt" for his perfect lifemate, soulmate whatever you want to call it. There were two finalists at the end and he had to pick one. He picked up a girl named xyz, proposed her with a ring which she accepted, went on vacation to New Zealand. But then he decides to say no to her and take a chance with another finalist named abc whom he rejected earlier. Now the gal xyz was mad, of course, and told him and I quote "You are such a bas**** (beep!!!!!)". What did that guy expect? That he would do all that I mentioned above and many more things that I didn't , leave this gal for someone else and she would be "Yea baby, whatever you say, I will go away from your life".I find it really funny in a sarcastic way.

Anyways, now the "rejected item" finds out that he is ready to take her back. As I said before I find these shows scripted and I had expected what her reply would be. Her reply was "Yea its a tough decision to make right now and we need to discuss lots of things. But I cannot believe what just happened and I would still say yes to him". Well in her mind she would be like this "Kaching Baby!!! I hit a jackpot" .

All in all, the show was entertaining, shows the guy, both the gals and even the TV host shedding some tears which reminded me of Indian TV dramas and movies wherein glycerin is used for ATE (Alligator Tears Effect).

Now the important question. How to get on this show? Guys, this might really be a good time to think about this since you will get chance to hook up with hot chicks (atleast that's what they look on the show). Gals, you also have a similar show called "The Bachelorette". I am still a bachelor which satisfies the title and the main theme of the show. What else is required? Hmm...Well, you need to be handsome, dashing personality, tall, classy and chivalrous to women and yea not geeky at all. I didn't define the above traits. The show says so.

Anyways, I did some soul searching (I am using a term that Jason used) and I found out I am a geeky graduate from Georgia Tech working as an engineer (geeky job) who is broke and not physically fit. I didn't even go down the line of being classy. First of all I will have to be physically fit. Regarding my specs no, I decided on getting LASIK and that way I can wear great sunglasses also. I will have to get my hair done professionally, take dancing classes and learn being classy in front of women. And for all these, I will need to have money. But hell! I don't have money...and I am still thinking on how to get money!!

Till then, if you guys have ideas/suggestions/comments about this show or importantly about helping your friend get on this show or even what would you do about this, let me know...

Title!

This is my first time creating and writing a blog. I am not sure why did I decide to create a blog after a long time. There have been times when I really wanted to write a blog but never could due to fear of addiction to blogging. After coming back from works, I always wanted to sit on my sofa, eat and watch TV. Circumstances change and so do people. Finally, I decided to create a blog which I did about a week back.

So some of might wonder why such a name and some of you would not care about the name of blog as much as content of it. But I think I owe an explanation that there are multiple reasons for such a name.

I am an avid reader and a fan of books written by Michael Crichton. In case if some of you do not know who he is, he is the author of Jurrasic Park and Lost World which have been adapted into movies with same names. I've completed almost all of his books and am currently reading Lost World. He presents a very interesting concept regarding how systems (may it be social, biological, economic) flourish the most when they are at the Edge of Chaos. Edge of Chaos represents a thin line between total order and complete randomness. I have my doubts about it but I definitely thought its a different and a very interesting concept. He uses this theory throughtout the entire book to explain the complex ecosystem.

Also, over the same weekend, I heard a good song called Bittersweet Symphony by Verve. Its beautiful melody about life and I liked it a lot.

So I asked myself. What would this blog be about? The answer was anything and everything. It could be about a book I am reading, about my friends, about some awesome itouch apps, about great gadgets, about some great experience I have had and about nostalgic feelings that I have frequently.

Finally, I decided to keep name mychaoticsymphony to represent the randomness of this blog which is symphony to me. So stay tuned if you like my posts and feel free to comment.
